DEP Denies Permit for Landfill that Threatened Green Swamp, Withlacoochee River

In November of 2008 Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) was ready to approve a 90 acre landfill project proposed by Angelo’s Aggregate Materials  1.5 miles from the Green Swamp and Withlacoochee River. The 150 foot high garbage mountain would have been located in a Karst area .
