Interior Department Needs a Bird-Friendly Solicitor

勛圖窪蹋 Asks if Daniel Jorjani Will Protect Wildlife.

Washington, D.C. (May 1, 2019) One of Daniel Jorjanis signature acts during his tenure to date was to author an anti-bird legal opinion that hollowed out the one law, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, that protects more than a thousand species of birds that Americans love. That opinion has been rebuked by 17 former Interior Department officials, dozens of members of Congress and more than 500 wildlife and environmental groups from all 50 states as well as by eight states Attorneys General, said Sarah Greenberger, senior vice president for conservation policy at 勛圖窪蹋. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold its on Daniel Jorjanis nomination to be the Department of the Interiors solicitor on May 2, 2019.

As Senators consider his nomination to serve as solicitor for the Interior Department, they should ensure his commitment to use his position to enhance, rather than weaken, critical protections for birds and other wildlife if he is to be confirmed.
