Mark Jannot Joins 吃瓜黑料 As Vice President for Content

Mark Jannot will take the helm of and will create a new integrated digital strategy for all of the 鈥檚 communications channels as vice president for content, 吃瓜黑料 President and CEO David Yarnold announced today. Jannot will join 吃瓜黑料鈥檚 executive team effective May 13, 2013, reporting to Yarnold.

鈥淭here鈥檚 an enormous opportunity to take 吃瓜黑料鈥檚 trusted brand and powerhouse magazine and build out everything from a major social media presence to tailored digital products,鈥 Yarnold said. A Pulitzer Prize-winning editor, Yarnold has emphasized the importance of communication in his three years at 吃瓜黑料 and sees Jannot鈥檚 appointment as the most important step to date: 鈥淭his is the stake in the ground,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e already touch 4 million people annually through our programs and owned communications channels 鈥 and we鈥檝e barely scratched the surface.鈥

Previously, Jannot was chief content officer for Reader鈥檚 Digest Milwaukee, where he oversaw all brand expressions for publications including Taste of Home, Birds & Blooms and Country Woman.

Before that, he was editorial director at Bonnier Technology Group, where he oversaw all editorial operations of Popular Photography, American Photo and Sound+Vision and served as editor-in-chief of Popular Science. He led editorial development of Bonnier Group鈥檚 innovative Mag+ tablet publishing platform and launched the 铿乺st custom-built iPad magazine edition, Popular Science+. He also developed the 鈥淧opular Science: The Future Of鈥︹ television series, which aired on Discovery Science Channel.

He was executive editor of National Geographic Adventure magazine and deputy editor at Men鈥檚 Journal.

Jannot is secretary of the board of directors of the American Society of Magazine Editors and previously chaired that board鈥檚 digital committee. He serves as a member of the TED Conference core curation team, sourcing and developing speakers for the 2014 TED Conference. Jannot holds a master鈥檚 in journalism from Northwestern University鈥檚 Medill School of Journalism.
