Cody Wagner

Conservation Program Manager
About

Cody is the Conservation Program Manager at Rowe Sanctuary and conducts habitat management activities, biological monitoring, river management, and conservation planning efforts to ensure the sanctuary supports the wildlife that depend on it. He also spends time working with conservation partners and local landowners to improve habitat within the greater Platte River Valley and keep Rowe part of the local community.

He grew up in rural central Nebraska near Chapman, spending much of his time as a young boy trapsing through the grasslands and woodlands of the Platte River Valley. Cody credits his care for the natural world to his time spent hunting with his father, summers spent taking care of (and snacking from) the garden with his mother, and the years he spent working on the family farm and ranch with his grandpa.  In particular, he has always loved the braided channels of the Platte River and jumped at the chance to protect it to allow future generations to enjoy it as he had in his childhood.

Cody earned a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Studies from Wayne State College in northeast Nebraska with a special focus on prairie plants. He has previous experience from the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resource District, the US Fish and Wildlife Service refuge system, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. He and his wife live with their very fluffy cat just off the Platte River, north of Minden where she teaches.
