We're hitting the road this summer and fall for a new initiative, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Around the Sound: A Puget Sound coastal resilience tour featuring speakers, field trips, and community events aimed at bringing conservationists together to protect Puget Sound’s coastal habitats in a changing climate.

Pilchuck ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Society kicks off the conversation of "³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Around the Sound" by hosting guest speaker Dr. Sanpisa Sritrairat, part of the Coastal Resilience Team at Washington Sea Grant working collaboratively with diverse communities and interests in the cocreation of projects designed to enhance capacities that address current and future challenges arising from changing coastal systems.

Guest speakers: Noah Linck, Washington Sea Grant Hershman Fellow with the Washington Department of Ecology. Jay Krienitz, Coast and Oceans Management Unit Supervisor with the Department of Ecology present on the projects and partners working to protect Puget Sound's shorelines.

Field Trip

Join Trina Bayard, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Washington, and North Cascades ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ to learn about the ways that estuary restoration and coastal resilience projects in Whatcom County are benefiting the birds of the Salish Sea and beyond. The trip will start with a stop at the mouth of California Creek to see estuary protection and restoration efforts led by Whatcom Land Trust, and then continue to Semiahmoo Spit to see the huge variety of birds benefiting from this work. There will be about 1.5-2 miles of walking on mixed terrain, including some uneven ground.
